The Teamsters Union is by no means a simple organization. It is a big business, surviving on the dues of its hard-working members. The Union is required each year to file a document with the federal government called an "LM-2" which reports the union's most recent financial results.
See the Teamsters Union's LM-2 Report.
The Teamsters latest LM-2 Report states that the Union collected more than $242 million in cash receipts. Yet the Teamsters spent more than $228 million.
That's right, the Teamsters Union somehow managed to pay out 94% of the money it collected.
The Union collected over $242 million, but how much did it spend on behalf of individual members? Well, according to the latest LM-2, the Teamsters responded to this item as follows:
A chunk of the money is going to pay the costly salaries and expenses of top Teamsters' officials. The Union paid more than $36 million for the combined salaries and expenses of its officers and employees.
The chart below breaks down how the Teamsters Union spent $228,557,170.
